Petrol increases by 20 fils per litre across all grades, while diesel rises by 50 fils, pushing up monthly running costs for motorists across the UAE

UAE fuel prices for September 2026 have been released by the UAE Fuel Price Committee, with petrol and diesel rates both increasing from August levels. Motorists across the seven emirates will pay more at the pumps in September after the committee raised fuel prices for the second consecutive month.

The new rates, effective from September 1, 2026, are:

That works out to month-on-month increases of around 5.6% for Super 98, 5.7% for Special 95, 5.9% for E-Plus 91 and 13.2% for diesel.

What does it mean for your fuel bill?

For a car with a 50-litre tank, a complete fill in September will cost:

  • Super 98: AED 190

  • Special 95: AED 184.50

  • E-Plus 91: AED 180.50

  • Diesel: AED 215

Compared with last month, that adds AED 10 per 50-litre fill for petrol and AED 25 for diesel.

A motorist who spent AED 500 on Special 95 in August would need about AED 529 to buy the same quantity in September. Someone filling a 50-litre petrol tank four times during the month would spend around AED 40 extra.

Second straight monthly increase

September follows another increase in August, after prices briefly declined in July following four consecutive months of rises.

Khaleej Times reports that UAE retail fuel prices have climbed by more than 60% since the Middle East conflict began on February 28, despite the July dip. The latest adjustment comes amid continued volatility in regional and global energy markets.

Higher pump prices can also feed directly into household budgets, particularly for motorists with long daily commutes or multiple vehicles.

Why fuel prices change each month

The UAE Fuel Price Committee reviews petrol and diesel rates monthly, with changes reflecting conditions in global energy markets.

Brent crude eased towards the end of August, although average oil prices for the month remained elevated.

For September, diesel users face the sharpest increase, while petrol motorists will pay an additional 20 fils per litre regardless of which grade they use.
