Gunther Werks has set the fastest time for a road-legal production car at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, with its F-26 completing the Timed Shoot Out in 50.41 seconds. The car covered the 1.16-mile hillclimb course to secure top honours in the road-legal category, finishing around four seconds ahead of the next fastest production model. The run was completed by former Formula One driver Scott Speed under challenging hot, dry and dusty conditions that reduced grip levels. After showing strong pace during Saturday’s qualifying, the F-26 delivered its decisive performance in Sunday’s final shootout.
First revealed at The Quail in August 2025, the F-26 takes design inspiration from the iconic Porsche 935 Slantnose.
Its name reflects both the shape of a modern fighter jet and its strictly limited production run of 26 units.
Power comes from an air-cooled, twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre flat-six engine developed in collaboration with Rothsport Racing, producing 1,067 hp and 750 lb-ft, or approximately 1,017 Nm.
The engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, maintaining a strong focus on driver engagement.
The F-26 features extensive use of in-house carbon-fibre bodywork, along with a high-downforce rear wing, double-wishbone front suspension, adaptive electronic dampers and motorsport-derived ABS.
With a kerb weight of around 1,225 kg, the car delivers an exceptional power-to-weight ratio, combining modern supercar performance with analogue driving characteristics.
More than 90 per cent of its components, including structural carbon fibre and billet aluminium parts, are designed, engineered and produced at Gunther Werks’ facility in Huntington Beach, California.
Alongside the hillclimb performance, Gunther Werks also displayed two examples from its 840 hp Turbo programme, based on the Porsche 993 platform and limited to 75 units globally.
The company also confirmed delivery of its first right-hand-drive Gunther Werks Turbo to a customer in the UK, marking a step forward in its European expansion.
The Goodwood result highlights nearly a decade of development behind the F-26 programme, reinforcing Gunther Werks’ focus on blending traditional driver involvement with modern engineering performance.
By securing the fastest road-legal production car time, the F-26 demonstrates its capability to compete at the highest level in one of the most demanding showcase events in global motorsport.
