The Audi A6 Sportback e-tron performance has set a Guinness World Record by covering 1,338 km on a single charge, driven by European Rally Champion Miko Marczyk in real-world conditions
German luxury marque Audi has set a new Guinness World Record after reigning European Rally Champion Miko Marczyk covered 1,338 km on a single battery charge in an Audi A6 Sportback e-tron performance. The achievement surpassed the previous record of 1,205 km, set in a Lucid Air Grand Touring by Ümit Sabancı, Kenneth Schofield and Fergal McGrath. The record drive began on September 11 at 1:55am and followed a route across Poland along the Vistula, passing through Krakow, Sandomierz, Warsaw, Toruń and Grudziądz before reaching Hel on the Baltic Sea and returning along the same route. The run was completed in regular traffic, including rush-hour sections, and lasted more than 45 hours. Average ambient temperature was around 15°C, dropping as low as 7°C in Grudziądz.
Up to 777 km WLTP range
The Audi A6 Sportback e-tron performance has an official WLTP range of up to 777 km, highlighting the gap between standard testing figures and the record-setting efficiency achieved.
The model produces 367 hp, accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, and uses a 94.9 kWh net battery.
During the record attempt, the car achieved an exceptionally low energy consumption of 7.09 kWh/100 km, demonstrating the efficiency potential of Audi’s latest EV platform.
Aerodynamics and regeneration key to efficiency
The A6 Sportback e-tron is based on Audi’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) and features an 800-volt electrical architecture, supporting advanced energy efficiency and thermal management.
The battery has a 100 kWh gross capacity and 94.9 kWh usable capacity, optimised for long-distance driving.
Audi says regenerative braking can handle around 95% of everyday braking events, with recuperation power of up to 220 kW, significantly improving efficiency in real-world conditions.
Aerodynamics also played a major role. With a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.21, the A6 Sportback e-tron is Audi’s most aerodynamic production model to date. Around 40% of total energy consumption in the WLTP cycle is linked to aerodynamic drag, making efficiency gains in this area critical.
How the record was achieved
Miko Marczyk said maximising EV range requires optimising driving style, energy recovery and vehicle systems, including effective use of regenerative braking, maintaining correct tyre pressures and anticipating traffic to avoid unnecessary acceleration and braking.
Smooth, consistent driving inputs were key to achieving the record distance.
For comparison, Audi lists the A6 Sportback e-tron performance’s standard combined energy consumption at 14.0 - 15.9 kWh/100 km, highlighting the exceptional efficiency recorded during the world-record run.
