XPENG X9 launches in UAE from AED 297,000

The seven-seat electric MPV offers up to 615 km of WLTP range, rear-wheel steering, air suspension, a 21.4-inch rear display and ultra-fast charging

Chinese automaker XPENG has launched the X9 in the UAE, with the flagship seven-seat electric MPV now available for viewing and test drives at the brand’s showrooms in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Prices start at AED 297,000 (approximately US$80,870). Gulf Star Motors, a subsidiary of Ali & Sons, is XPENG’s official distributor in the UAE. Built on a dedicated battery-electric platform, the X9 combines a large seven-seat cabin with technologies intended to make the 5.3-metre-long MPV easier to manoeuvre. Standard Active Rear-Wheel Steering gives it a claimed 5.4-metre turning radius, which XPENG says is comparable to that of a much smaller car.

Seven-seat cabin with flat floor

The X9 uses XPENG’s Starship Design Language 2.0 and features a completely flat floor, helping create a claimed 7.7-square-metre cabin.

Second-row passengers get Cloud-sense Seat 3.0 captain’s chairs with 14-way adjustment and a Zero-Gravity seating function. Rear occupants also have access to a 21.4-inch entertainment screen, an integrated intelligent refrigerator and a 27-speaker custom HiFi audio system.

Climate control is handled by what XPENG calls its silent-breeze air-conditioning system, which uses more than 6,000 micro-vents to distribute airflow without directing a strong draft at occupants.

The electrically operated third row can fold completely flat at the touch of a button, increasing luggage capacity to 2,554 litres. XPENG also claims the X9’s recessed luggage compartment can accommodate seven suitcases even when all seven seats are occupied.

Up to 615 km of WLTP range

Underneath, the X9 uses an 800V high-voltage Silicon Carbide electrical architecture.

XPENG quotes a maximum driving range of 615 km on the WLTP cycle, while the charging system can take the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in 12 minutes, according to the company.

The UAE-specification model described in the launch announcement uses a front-wheel-drive powertrain and can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.

Rear-wheel steering and air suspension

Along with its standard rear-wheel steering, the X9 features dual-chamber air suspension and an AI-assisted chassis system.

According to XPENG, the system can detect road obstacles as far as 30 metres ahead and pre-adjust the damping to improve ride comfort before the vehicle reaches them.

Inside, the digital interface runs XPENG’s Tianji XOS operating system using a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 processor.

The dashboard incorporates a 17.3-inch central touchscreen, while the vehicle also supports what XPENG describes as all-scenario six-zone voice interaction, allowing occupants in different areas of the cabin to use voice commands.

Nine airbags and reinforced structure

For safety, XPENG says the X9 has been designed to E-NCAP five-star standards. Importantly, the UAE launch release describes this as a design target rather than stating that the vehicle has received an official five-star Euro NCAP rating.

Its structure incorporates a 2,000 MPa ultra-high-strength safety cage, while nine airbags are fitted as standard.

XPENG also highlights what it calls enhanced 5C battery safety, incorporating thermal and collision protection for the high-voltage battery system.

XPENG X9 UAE price and availability

The XPENG X9 is now available to view and test drive at XPENG showrooms in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with pricing starting from AED 297,000 (approximately US$80,870).

The X9 joins XPENG’s growing UAE range as the brand’s flagship people mover, combining seven-seat practicality with features including rear-wheel steering, air suspension, an 800V electrical system and a cabin focused heavily on second- and third-row passenger comfort.
