Freelander has revealed the complete exterior colour palette for the upcoming Freelander 8 and introduced its Super Intelligent Valet Parking (SIVP) system ahead of the brand’s planned global launch and expansion into international markets, including the Middle East. Originally introduced as a vehicle nameplate in 1997, Freelander is being developed into an independent global automotive brand through a partnership between Chery and Jaguar Land Rover. JLR leads the design direction and premium identity, while Chery contributes advanced technology, global research and development resources and supply-chain capabilities. The Freelander 8 will be the brand’s first strategic model. Positioned as a mid-to-large premium SUV, it is built around three pillars: British Craftsmanship, Smart Confidence and All-Terrain Freedom.
The colour palette is led by three First Edition finishes designed to highlight the SUV’s design, surfaces and proportions under changing light conditions.
Dancing Silver Satin combines a cool metallic base with violet undertones. It uses PPG CeramiClear nano-ceramic satin clear-coat technology, which the manufacturer claims improves hardness, abrasion resistance and scratch resistance. Aluminium flakes and red-violet pearlescent pigments add depth and subtle purple reflections.
Lucent Lime Satin is inspired by the 570-nanometre wavelength, where the human eye is particularly sensitive to yellow. Nano-scale pigments, resin-dispersion technology and reflective aluminium flakes create a crisp metallic finish without appearing overly gold or orange.
Immersive Purple draws inspiration from the final twilight glow over polar regions. Blue, white and red pearlescent pigments, encapsulated mica and aluminium flakes create depth and subtle colour variation across different viewing angles.
Five gloss finishes complete the eight-colour range: Dancing Silver, Boundless Blue, Brilliant Bronze, Daring Black and Uplifting White.
The SIVP system will be available in selected international markets and will allow owners to remotely control automated parking and vehicle-summon functions through a mobile application.
At hotels, shopping centres and business districts, drivers can leave the SUV at a designated drop-off point. According to Freelander, the vehicle can then search for a suitable parking space, avoid obstacles and park autonomously.
When the owner is ready to leave, the Freelander 8 can be summoned through the app and directed to a designated pick-up point.
The company says the feature could be particularly useful in the Middle East, where high summer temperatures can make walking through outdoor parking areas uncomfortable. By reducing time spent outside, SIVP is designed to enhance everyday convenience.
SIVP forms part of the Freelander 8’s wider intelligent technology ecosystem. Its digital cockpit will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8295P automotive-grade processor, while the SUV will also feature Freelander’s Intelligent All-Terrain System (i-ATS).
An official Freelander 8 launch date, regional specifications, pricing and confirmation of market availability have not yet been announced. However, the model is expected to launch in the Middle East as part of the brand’s global expansion strategy.
