The new Tata Aeris sedan launches in India from ₹5.29 lakh (approx. US$5,520/AED 20,300), offering petrol and iCNG powertrains, manual and AMT transmissions, six airbags as standard and a 419-litre boot
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles has launched the new Tata Aeris sedan in India, aimed at private buyers with a focus on design, comfort, in-car technology and everyday practicality. Launched on September 25, 2026, the Aeris is now available across Tata dealerships nationwide, with introductory prices starting at ₹5.29 lakh for petrol and ₹6.29 lakh for iCNG variants. Tata positions the Aeris around its “Defeat Boring” philosophy, structured across four pillars, Defeat Ordinary, Defeat Functional, Defeat Stress and Defeat Compromise, covering design, technology, safety and powertrain versatility.
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said the Aeris is designed for buyers seeking a modern sedan with comfort, space, practicality and personal expression, while maintaining everyday usability.
Interior and technology
The Tata Aeris cabin features AeroLux ventilated leatherette seats, an OpenView dashboard design and dual digital displays.
These include a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system and a 5-inch Digital Island instrument cluster, providing key driving and connectivity information.
A Dual Smartphone Deck with wireless charging is offered, alongside wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Tata’s iRA connected-car platform delivers more than 35 connected features, enhancing convenience and remote vehicle access.
Additional features include automatic climate control, rear AC vents and 65W Type-C fast charging ports, while the sedan offers a 419-litre boot capacity, supporting everyday practicality.
Safety features
The Aeris is built on Tata’s Safety Dome architecture, using Ultra High Strength Steel for improved structural rigidity and occupant protection.
Safety features include six airbags as standard, along with Electronic Stability Program (ESP), ABS with EBD, Corner Stability Control, Hill Hold Control and ISOFIX child-seat mounts.
The sedan also introduces a Blind View Monitor, MultiView Digital Video Recorder and an HD 360-degree Surround View camera system with multiple viewing modes.
Additional equipment includes auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, rear defogger and enhanced rear-impact protection.
The iCNG variants add gas-leak detection, leak-proof materials, thermal incident protection and rear-crash safety systems, enhancing safety for CNG-powered operation.
Petrol and iCNG powertrains
The Aeris is available with a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine, producing 86 PS at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm at 3,300 rpm. It can be paired with either a five-speed manual gearbox or an AMT.
The iCNG version produces 75.5 PS at 6,000 rpm and 96.5 Nm at 3,500 rpm and is also available with manual and AMT options, with the latter combining CNG with the convenience of an automated transmission.
Tata’s twin-cylinder iCNG system is designed to optimise packaging and preserve luggage space rather than allowing a conventional large CNG cylinder to substantially compromise the boot.
With petrol and CNG powertrains, manual and AMT choices, a technology-rich cabin and a comprehensive standard safety package, Tata is positioning the Aeris as a more expressive and aspirational take on the practical sedan.
