Bentley Torcal debuts as brand’s first EV with up to 888 PS

New Bentley design language

Created under Design Director Robin Page, the Torcal has a low, sleek profile with a long wheelbase, short overhangs and what Bentley calls “upright elegance” and an “endless bonnet”.

The front draws inspiration from Bentleys including the Continental T, combining advanced lighting with an illuminated diamond grille. At the rear, cleaner graphics introduce the “prestigious shield” design principle first explored on the EXP 15 concept. Pronounced rear haunches and a tapering cabin create what Bentley designers call a “resting beast” stance, while diamond motifs recur throughout the exterior and cabin.

The Torcal is also the first Bentley to feature the brand’s redesigned emblem. The standard model gets 21-inch wheels, while the S receives 22-inch 10-twin-spoke wheels. Three further 22-inch designs are available, including an aerodynamically focused option.

The standard Torcal features satin-silver exterior trim, while inside it gets a single-tone colour split and Open Pore Crown Cut Walnut. The sportier Torcal S adds black exterior trim and mirror caps, dark rear lamps, a rear diffuser, sports sills and front bumper strakes, red brake calipers, S and black Bentley badging, dedicated quilting and stitching, sports pedals, Piano Black veneer, illuminated treadplates and “waterfall” mood lighting.

Up to 888 PS and 1,350 Nm

The Torcal uses two permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors, one at each axle. The front motor has an open differential, while the rear uses a locking differential with a multi-plate clutch on each output shaft.

The standard Torcal produces 821 PS and 1,194 Nm, accelerating from 0–100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reaching a top speed of 250 km/h.

The Torcal S raises output to 888 PS and 1,350 Nm with Launch Control, giving it the highest torque figure of any Bentley to date. It reaches 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 260 km/h.

113 kWh battery and claimed 600 km range

Energy comes from a 113 kWh net-capacity battery comprising 192 lithium-ion pouch cells and operating at a nominal 800V. The battery is covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles, approximately 161,000 km.

Bentley claims up to 600 km of WLTP range, with DC charging at up to 400 kW. A 10–80 per cent charge takes under 20 minutes, while around 161 km of range can be added in seven minutes.

Bentley notes that EU27 electricity-consumption and electric-range figures remain subject to EU type approval.

Fully active suspension and all-wheel steering

The Torcal introduces Bentley’s first fully active suspension, using adaptive two-valve dampers that independently respond to road and driver inputs. The system eliminates conventional anti-roll bars, while standard electronic all-wheel steering turns the rear wheels by up to five degrees, contributing to an 11.1-metre turning circle.

Standard iron brakes use 420 mm front and 370 mm rear discs, while optional Carbon Silicon Carbide ceramic brakes increase these to 440 mm and 410 mm respectively.

Bentley says the Torcal combines the long-distance comfort of a Flying Spur, the dynamics of a Continental GT Speed and off-road composure.

New cabin and wellness seats

The wing-inspired dashboard combines leather, wool, veneer and aluminium, with knurled controls, redesigned bullseye air vents and physical controls retained on the centre console and steering wheel.

Front seats offer 16-way adjustment, heating, ventilation, adjustable bolsters and massage as standard. Optional Postural Adjust varies pressure distribution, while Smart Seat Climate manages heating and ventilation. The Wellness Seat Specification extends massage to the legs as well as the back and shoulders.

The three-seat rear bench introduces power folding for the first time in a Bentley.

Technology includes curved OLED displays, facial recognition, a Mobile Device Key and an augmented-reality head-up display.

A network of 25 radars, sensors and cameras supports driver-assistance and parking functions, including automatic reversing on narrow roads, towing, garage and parallel-parking assistance, remote parking and trainable parking manoeuvres.

Four radar-controlled powered doors can open and close automatically, while a Frosted Diamond switchable-glass sunroof allows occupants to adjust cabin light levels.

At around five metres long, the Torcal is Bentley’s shortest four-door model, with a 460-litre boot and 90-litre front storage compartment.

New sustainable materials

Bentley says the Torcal introduces the world’s first 100 per cent Merino wool automotive fabric, developed with Fox Brothers, and the first automotive wool fabric certified to the Responsible Wool Standard.

Ombré Walnut by Mulliner uses up to 1,000 layers of sustainably sourced walnut off-cuts and recycled paper, while Sunburst Aluminium reinterprets the engine-turned dashboards of historic Bentleys.

Interior choices include 15 leather colours, 15 Dinamica shades, five Merino wool colours, six wood veneers, two technical finishes and six Piano finishes.

A soundtrack created by musicians

Bentley’s Dynamic Symphony is a human-performed propulsion soundtrack inspired by the rhythm of its 6¾-litre V8, rather than simply electronically imitating an engine note.

Musicians used drums, viola and bass guitar, with the low-frequency soundtrack responding to speed and torque demand. It becomes louder in Sport mode but can be switched off completely.

A 620W 16-speaker audio system is offered, while the optional 1,780W 28-speaker Naim system adds Dolby Atmos 7.1, front headrest speakers and kinaesthetic seat shakers.
