Nissan’s redesigned premium minivan has officially launched in Japan, introducing third-generation e-POWER, enhanced e-4ORCE all-wheel drive, adaptive suspension, lounge-style seating and upgraded ProPILOT driver-assistance technology.

Nissan has launched the all-new Elgrand MPV in Japan, with sales starting on July 16, 2026. First revealed at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, the premium seven-seat minivan combines increased cabin space with a stronger focus on comfort, refinement and driving experience.

Commanding new design

Developed around the “Private MAGLEV” concept, the larger new Elgrand blends a streamlined silhouette with a commanding stance and Nissan’s “Timeless Japanese Futurism” design language.

Kumiko-inspired detailing connects the grille, signature lighting elements and full-width rear lamps, while lightweight resin wheel finishers add visual intricacy beyond traditional aluminium designs. Exterior colour options include Prism White, Shigoku, Dark Metal Grey, Midnight Black and a Fuji Dawn/Shigoku dual-tone finish.

Private lounge-inspired cabin

Designed as a private lounge, the Elgrand’s cabin combines a raised driving position, quilted door trims and capacitive controls integrated into a wood-grain dashboard.

Two 14.3-inch displays form a wide digital interface, claimed to be a Nissan first in Japan. TailorFit upholstery is offered in Dark for the X e-4ORCE and Ginsetsu or Shitan for the G e-4ORCE, with these finishes inspired by Japanese landscapes and traditional symbols of refinement.

Greater comfort for all three rows

Smooth Stop technology automatically reduces the final braking jolt, while Nissan’s claimed world-first Advanced Active Noise Control suppresses both engine and road noise.

The larger cabin features wide sliding-door windows, theatre-style seating and Zero Gravity Seats across all rows. The wide second-row seats add ottomans and dual reclining backrests, while the front passenger and second-row ottomans can operate simultaneously. A Bose 22-speaker audio system with 3D surround sound is also available.

Practical features and flexible storage

The centre console integrates a dual-device Qi2.0 wireless charger with a large rear storage compartment, while selected variants include three 100V AC outlets supplying up to 1,500W for appliances or emergency use.

Sliding doors feature a low step, large assist handle and a rain-reducing half-open function. The third row folds into two configurations to optimise space, with Nissan claiming capacity for seven cabin-size suitcases with all seats in use.

A lower load floor, wider and taller tailgate opening, centrally positioned and D-pillar-mounted switches, along with adjustable opening height, improve everyday usability.

Third-generation e-POWER, e-4ORCE and adaptive suspension

The third-generation e-POWER system combines a ZR15DDTe petrol generator with a five-in-one unit integrating the motor, generator, inverter, reducer and increaser, delivering an EV-like driving response.

Enhanced e-4ORCE all-wheel drive coordinates front and rear motors with the braking system to reduce body movement during acceleration and braking, while increased rear-motor assistance improves cornering response.

Drivers can monitor motor output and brake-force distribution in real time, while Intelligent Dynamic Suspension continuously adjusts damping at each wheel to enhance ride comfort and stability. Six drive modes allow adjustment of e-POWER, e-4ORCE and suspension characteristics.

Expanded driver assistance

The X e-4ORCE includes standard ProPILOT for single-lane motorway assistance covering steering, acceleration and braking, while the G adds Navi-link, Traffic Jam Hands-Off Mode and Lane Change Support.

These advanced features are optional on selected grades, alongside ProPILOT 2.0. Hands-off driving assistance operates up to 50 km/h, while Lane Change Support is available from 60 km/h after indicator activation.

Available ProPILOT Park with memory can automatically control steering, acceleration, braking and parking in stored locations. Additional features include Intelligent Distance Control and an Around View Monitor.

Google built-in and remote services

NissanConnect introduces Google built-in, including Maps, Assistant and Play apps, while smartphone alerts notify users if doors are unlocked, hazards remain active or windows are open.

Remote Photo Shot can capture the vehicle’s surroundings after an impact or unusual event, while Mimamori Drive notifies users when the car enters or leaves a predefined area or exceeds a set speed via the mobile app.

Nissan Elgrand pricing and launch

In Japan, the Elgrand X e-4ORCE is priced from ¥6,897,000, equivalent to approximately $42,600 or AED 156,400. The higher-specification G e-4ORCE is priced at ¥7,579,000, or around $46,800 and AED 171,900.

A Nissan Elgrand Middle East launch, including the UAE, has not yet been confirmed, while regional specifications and pricing are expected to be announced closer to launch.
