2027 Ford F-150 gets new V6, BlueCruise with Towing

Revised styling for 2027

The 2027 F-150 range including XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum trims receives redesigned grilles and updated wheel designs. Ford says the facelift focuses on a more modern interpretation of the F-150’s traditional design, while preserving the durability, capability and rugged identity expected from a full-size pickup.

BlueCruise now works while towing

One of the biggest additions is BlueCruise with Towing, which makes its debut on the 2027 F-150. The system allows hands-free, eyes-on driving while towing a boat, trailer or camper on nearly 210,000 km, more than 130,000 miles, of pre-qualified divided highways known as Blue Zones.

According to a 2025 IPSOS study of US customers, 76% of F-150 owners use their trucks for towing. Ford is making the feature available across every BlueCruise-equipped 2027 F-150, including the XLT, Tremor, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum, rather than restricting it to higher trims. Customers with an active BlueCruise subscription will not have to pay an additional fee specifically for BlueCruise with Towing.

Ford says the technology was tested over thousands of kilometres of US roads and in its Dynamic Driving Simulator across multiple trailer combinations and conditions.

There are limitations, however. BlueCruise with Towing requires an active plan or trial, availability depends on trailer type, size and weight, and not all BlueCruise functions operate while towing. Drivers must also ensure the trailer is correctly attached, loaded and configured. BlueCruise remains a driver-assistance system, so a fully attentive driver must be ready to take control.

Ford separately says BlueCruise with Towing can support up to 10,000 lb, or around 4,536 kg, of towing capacity when the F-150 is appropriately configured, or the vehicle’s maximum towing capacity if lower.

New 3.0-litre EcoBoost V6 base engine

The 2027 F-150 introduces a new 3.0-litre EcoBoost V6 as its standard engine, replacing the 2.7-litre EcoBoost. It delivers around 10–11% more torque in the rev range typically used during everyday driving, with the aim of making acceleration and pulling loads feel more effortless.

In a properly equipped Regular Cab 4x2 with a 6.5-foot bed, it can tow up to 8,400 lb, or around 3,810 kg, and carry a maximum payload of 1,755 lb, or approximately 796 kg.

The wider powertrain range includes a 5.0-litre V8 producing 400 hp and 410 lb-ft (556 Nm), while the 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 develops 500 lb-ft (678 Nm) and can tow up to 13,500 lb, or around 6,124 kg, when properly equipped.

The 3.5-litre PowerBoost Hybrid produces 570 lb-ft (773 Nm) and is available with 2.4 kW or 7.2 kW Pro Power Onboard, allowing the pickup to provide electricity for tools and other equipment.

First F-150 Carhartt edition

Ford has introduced the first-ever Carhartt edition for the F-150 lineup, extending the collaboration beyond heavy-duty trucks. Ford says the collaboration reflects shared Detroit heritage and a focus on durability and work-ready design.

Available on 4x4 XLT Crew Cab models, the package includes unique styling elements such as Carhartt branding, 20-inch wheels, revised grille design, skid protection elements and off-road-focused detailing. Inside, the cabin features two-tone Carhartt-themed upholstery, branded floor mats, and updated trim elements designed to reflect the workwear partnership’s rugged aesthetic.

Canada pricing and availability

In Canada, the Carhartt Package costs C$5,995, equivalent to approximately US$4,305 or AED 15,820 at current mid-market exchange rates. The F-150 Carhartt starts at C$82,285 MSRP, or roughly US$59,090 / AED 217,100, excluding destination and delivery, taxes and other applicable charges.
