The Nissan Leaf Nismo electric crossover gains Nismo-tuned suspension, enhanced aerodynamics, regenerative-braking paddles and up to 160kW, with prices starting from around AED 148,700.

Japanese automaker Nissan has launched the new 2026 Leaf Nismo in Japan, where the high-performance electric crossover officially went on sale on July 22, 2026. Based on the third-generation Nissan Leaf introduced in Japan earlier this year, the new Nismo variant joins Nissan’s growing Nismo road-car line-up with dedicated chassis tuning, powertrain calibration, aerodynamic upgrades and interior enhancements. Nissan has sold around 700,000 Leaf electric vehicles globally since the original EV debuted in 2010.

Nismo-tuned chassis and electric performance modes

Developed as an “agile intelligent sport crossover”, the Nissan Leaf Nismo receives exclusive springs, stabilisers and selected member bushes designed to increase suspension rigidity and improve steering response.

Swing valve-equipped shock absorbers, also used on the X-Trail Nismo, help reduce initial body movement while allowing the suspension to react smoothly across different road surfaces.

Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres are combined with lightweight, high-rigidity 19-inch Enkei aluminium wheels to improve grip, cornering ability and overall driving stability.

From the standard Leaf’s four drive modes, Standard, Eco and Sport receive dedicated Nismo calibration. Sport mode becomes Nismo Mode, delivering stronger and more linear electric acceleration, while Standard and Eco settings have been adjusted to match the revised chassis characteristics.

The Nissan Leaf Nismo is also the brand’s first electric Nismo model equipped with regenerative-braking control paddles. Drivers can choose from four settings, with Level 1 providing reduced deceleration and Levels 2 to 4 offering stronger regenerative braking than the standard Leaf EV.

Aerodynamic upgrades increase downforce

The front bumper features corner finishers that guide airflow along the vehicle’s sides, while dedicated lower-door extensions enhance the electric crossover’s wider and lower appearance.

A boat-hull-style rear under-spoiler and extended ducktail spoiler are designed to improve airflow efficiency, reduce lift and increase downforce. Nissan says the complete Nismo aerodynamic package delivers additional downforce without increasing drag compared with the regular Leaf.

Nismo’s signature “Arterial Magma” red accents appear throughout the exterior, including a red stripe across the gloss-black door mirrors. Six exterior colours are available, including four standard Leaf finishes and two exclusive Nismo Stealth Grey options.

Sporty black and red interior

The Nissan Leaf Nismo cabin features a predominantly black theme with red highlights and dedicated Nismo elements, including a unique power meter display, dashboard trim and power switch.

The TailorFit synthetic-leather steering wheel features red stitching and a red centre marker, while the front seats receive red perforations and embroidered Nismo branding.

Optional Nismo-tuned RECARO sports seats are available with electrically powered and continuously adjustable reclining functions, adding further performance-focused character to the electric crossover interior.

Nissan Leaf Nismo performance, dimensions and prices

The B7 Nismo and B7 Nismo RECARO produce 160kW, equivalent to approximately 218PS, and 355Nm of torque. The B5 Nismo delivers 130kW, around 177PS, and 345Nm. All versions use a two-wheel-drive layout.

The Nissan Leaf Nismo measures 4,415mm in length, 1,810mm in width and 1,550mm in height, increasing to 1,565mm on the B7 ProPILOT 2.0 version. It features a 2,690mm wheelbase and 135mm of ground clearance.

Kerb weight ranges from 1,820kg for the B5 variant to 1,920kg for the B7 model, while the RECARO-equipped B7 weighs 1,900kg.

Japanese prices, including consumption tax, are:

  • B5 Nismo: ¥6,601,100 — approximately $40,500 or AED 148,700

  • B7 Nismo: ¥6,952,000 — approximately $42,700 or AED 156,600

  • B7 Nismo RECARO: ¥7,227,000 — approximately $44,300 or AED 162,800

Currency conversions are approximate. Nissan has not confirmed whether the new Nissan Leaf Nismo electric performance model will launch in the UAE or other international markets outside Japan.
