Zeekr marks 5 global years, previews 9X at Yas Marina

9X introduces a new flagship

Making its first appearance in the UAE, the Zeekr 9X has been positioned as a new flagship model built on a pure electric platform with hybrid capability.

The SUV produces more than 1,400 hp, offers a claimed combined range of over 1,250 km and supports ultra-fast charging, with a 20 to 80 per cent top-up possible in around nine minutes under ideal conditions.

Design highlights include a large integrated grille, clamshell bonnet, yacht-inspired roofline and the brand’s SEA Star Diamond lighting system, giving the 9X a distinctive road presence.

Inside, the model features Zeekr AI OS with a 16-inch central touchscreen and passenger display, alongside an advanced driver-assistance system using multiple sensors for both city and highway driving.

The cabin focuses on comfort and luxury, with features such as zero-gravity seats, Nappa leather, ambient lighting, a 32-speaker Naim audio system and a three-row seating layout.

Performance meets experience

Performance formed a key part of the event, with the Zeekr 9X showcasing its acceleration on the drag strip against high-performance vehicles, underlining the brand’s focus on speed and electrified performance.

Owners were divided into groups and rotated through different driving experiences. These included laps of the full Yas Marina Grand Prix circuit in the 9X and 7X, drag race demonstrations and drift ride-alongs in the Zeekr 7X with a professional driver.

The event concluded with a full circuit parade lap, bringing together owners and participants before an anniversary dinner.

Growing brand, growing community

Company representatives highlighted the importance of the UAE market and the role of the owner community in supporting Zeekr’s regional growth.

Executives described the 9X as a flagship model designed to showcase the brand’s capabilities in design, technology and performance, while also signalling its future direction in the premium electric vehicle segment.

The turnout of more than 200 owners at Yas Marina Circuit was also seen as a reflection of the growing adoption of premium EVs in the UAE.

Global growth continues

Since launching in 2021, Zeekr has delivered more than 800,000 vehicles across over 40 international markets.

The current lineup includes models such as the 001, 009, X, 007 and 7X, with design led by automotive designer Stefan Sielaff.

The Zeekr 9X is expected to launch in the UAE later in 2026, with pre-bookings now open through official channels. Test drives are also expected to begin through the AWR Automotive dealer network.
