The Zeekr 7X electric SUV set a Guinness World Record by drifting through a gap with just 25cm of clearance at Yas Marina Circuit, showcasing precision control and advanced EV performance.

Zeekr has secured a Guinness World Records title with the 7X for the tightest gap passed through while drifting an electric car. The electric SUV completed the record attempt at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi with just 25 centimetres of clearance. Zeekr says the achievement highlights the 7X’s steering precision, stability and dynamic control while forming a key part of the brand’s fifth-anniversary celebrations.

Engineering behind the EV drifting record

Zeekr attributes the performance to the 7X’s front double-wishbone suspension, high-output rear electric motor and intelligent vehicle-control systems.

The suspension is engineered to translate steering inputs into precise movements, while the rear motor delivers instant, controllable torque, allowing the driver to maintain the drift and make fine directional adjustments using the accelerator.

The Zeekr 7X is built on Geely Holding Group’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA). According to the company, its rigid structure and low centre of gravity improve balance, stability and driver confidence during extreme drifting manoeuvres.

Mars Chen, Vice President of Zeekr, described the Guinness World Record as a fitting way to mark the company’s fifth anniversary, adding that it demonstrates the technology, precision and performance behind the electric SUV.

Fifth-anniversary celebration in Abu Dhabi

More than 200 Zeekr owners, customers, partners and UAE media representatives gathered at Yas Marina Circuit on June 13, 2026, to celebrate the EV drifting record and the brand’s five-year journey.

The event gave guests an opportunity to experience Zeekr’s latest electric vehicle technologies while bringing together the company’s growing UAE community.

Roberto Colucci, Director of Electric Vehicles at AWR Automotive, said the achievement reflects the innovation and engineering behind Zeekr and highlights the advanced technology available to customers in the UAE.

AWR Automotive, part of AW Rostamani Group, represents Zeekr locally. Its wider portfolio includes Nissan, Infiniti, Renault, Chery, smart and several mobility, rental and aftersales businesses.

Zeekr global growth and EV portfolio

Zeekr was launched in 2021 as Geely Holding Group’s premium electric mobility brand and began delivering vehicles in October that year.

The company develops its own battery systems, battery-management technology and electric motors, supported by research, development and design centres in Gothenburg, Ningbo, Hangzhou and Shanghai.

According to the company, Zeekr has delivered more than 800,000 vehicles globally. Its current line-up includes the Zeekr 001, 001 FR, 009, 009 Grand, X, 007, 7X, MIX, 7GT and 9X.

As it moves into its next phase, Zeekr says it plans to expand further into international markets over the coming years while continuing to develop advanced electric vehicles and intelligent mobility technologies.
