Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) raised AED 65.721 million (approximately USD 17.9 million) at its 121st distinguished vehicle number plate auction, with the exclusive CC44 plate securing the highest bid of AED 6.72 million (USD 1.83 million)

Announced on 26 October 2026, the results of the RTA's 121st Open Auction of Distinguished Vehicle Number Plates highlight continued demand for rare and exclusive vehicle registration numbers in Dubai, where distinctive combinations attract significant interest from collectors and motorists. Held on 24 October 2026 at Hilton Dubai Al Habtoor City, the auction featured 60 distinguished number plates, including two-, three-, four- and five-digit combinations across the AA, BB, CC, H, U, V, W, X, Y and Z codes.

Most expensive Dubai number plates sold at the RTA auction

The CC44 number plate attracted the highest bid at AED 6.72 million (USD 1.83 million), making it the most expensive registration plate sold during the auction.

The BB18 plate followed closely, selling for AED 6.62 million (USD 1.80 million), while BB80 secured a winning bid of AED 5.9 million (USD 1.61 million).

Another notable sale was BB117, which fetched AED 1.016 million (approximately USD 277,000).

Together, these four distinguished Dubai number plates generated AED 20.256 million (approximately USD 5.51 million), accounting for nearly 31% of the auction's total proceeds.

According to the RTA, the results reflect the continued success of its open and online number plate auction strategy, which prioritises neutrality, transparency and equal opportunities for participants.

The authority also highlighted the symbolic and personal value of distinguished vehicle registration plates, allowing owners to express their individuality through rare and exclusive number combinations.

How does the latest Dubai RTA number plate auction compare?

The previous RTA distinguished number plate auction, held on 27 December 2025, generated a record AED 109.026 million (approximately USD 29.7 million), the highest total recorded in the authority's number plate auction history.

The highest-selling plate at that event was BB12, which fetched AED 9.66 million (USD 2.63 million), compared with AED 6.72 million for CC44 at the October 2026 auction.

However, the December 2025 auction featured 90 number plates, compared with 60 at the latest event. This difference in the number of plates offered means that comparing total proceeds alone does not necessarily reflect changes in collector demand.

Dubai's most expensive number plate ever sold

Dubai also holds the Guinness World Record for the most expensive car registration plate sold at auction.

On 8 April 2023, the P7 number plate sold for AED 55 million (approximately USD 15 million) at the Most Noble Numbers charity auction, organised by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives in collaboration with Emirates Auction.

The record-breaking sale supported the UAE's 1 Billion Meals Endowment campaign, an initiative aimed at providing sustainable food assistance to vulnerable communities.

Unlike the RTA's regular distinguished number plate auctions, the 2023 event was specifically organised to raise funds for charitable causes.

Dubai's latest RTA auction further demonstrates the appeal of rare vehicle registration numbers, with collectors and motorists continuing to place multimillion-dirham bids on exclusive number plates.
