Honda Middle East & Africa and Al-Futtaim Honda have conducted their second motorcycle safety training programme in the UAE, helping nine Talabat delivery riders improve road awareness, defensive riding and motorcycle control through classroom lessons, practical exercises and individual assessments in Dubai.

Honda Motor Co.'s Middle East & Africa Office, in collaboration with authorised distributor Al-Futtaim Honda, has organised its second motorcycle safety training programme for commercial delivery riders in the UAE. The initiative aims to improve riding skills, strengthen road safety awareness and encourage responsible motorcycle use among delivery professionals.

Held on 24 September 2026 at the Al-Futtaim Automotive Talent Centre in Dubai, the one-day programme involved nine Talabat delivery riders selected through the platform's logistics partners. Running from 10 am to 5.30 pm, including scheduled breaks, the training combined theoretical instruction, practical riding exercises and individual performance assessments.

The programme addresses growing road safety concerns associated with the UAE's expanding food delivery industry and increasingly busy urban roads. As the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer, producing more than 16 million motorcycles annually, Honda has introduced rider education and safety initiatives across several international markets.

Motorcycle safety training: Theory and practical exercises

The classroom sessions introduced participants to Honda's Global Safety Vision 2050 and covered essential motorcycle safety practices. Topics included defensive riding techniques, protective equipment, pre-ride motorcycle inspections, hazard prediction and safe riding behaviour under different road and load conditions.

The training also examined common motorcycle accident scenarios, particularly at intersections, alongside road etiquette, rider responsibility and techniques for identifying potential hazards before they develop into dangerous situations.

Practical motorcycle training focused on four key exercises:

  • Control and braking: Improving motorcycle handling, braking techniques and stopping control.

  • Short zigzag route: Developing manoeuvrability, steering precision and coordination.

  • Slow-speed control: Strengthening balance and stability when riding at low speeds.

  • Slow-speed race: A competitive exercise designed to test controlled riding and balance.

Participants completed classroom lessons, quizzes, outdoor riding exercises and individual skills assessments. Honda's trainers also provided personalised feedback to help riders identify areas for improvement and develop safer riding habits.

Rider feedback and road safety awareness

According to Honda, participating Talabat delivery riders responded positively to the motorcycle safety training programme, appreciating the opportunity to learn directly from an established motorcycle manufacturer.

Several riders reported improved confidence and greater awareness of potential road hazards following the sessions. Some participants also felt the initiative demonstrated a commitment to prioritising their safety while carrying out daily delivery responsibilities.

Beyond technical motorcycle handling, the programme highlighted the importance of discipline, hazard awareness, responsible road behaviour and mutual respect between motorcyclists and other road users.

Honda's 2050 vision: Towards zero traffic fatalities

The Dubai motorcycle safety initiative forms part of Honda's global Safety for Everyone philosophy and its long-term objective of achieving zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles worldwide by 2050.

Honda's broader safety vision promotes a collision-free society that protects all road users, including drivers, passengers, motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians.

Describing itself as a motorcycle market leader in the Middle East, Honda aims to strengthen regional road safety through rider education, professional training and industry partnerships.

The programme also supports the UAE's wider efforts to improve traffic safety and reduce road accidents, particularly among commercial delivery riders who spend extended periods navigating busy city roads.

Honda plans to expand motorcycle safety training Across the UAE

Honda's first motorcycle safety training programme in the UAE took place on 11–12 September 2025 at Dubai Autodrome, in collaboration with Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The inaugural sessions were conducted by instructors from Honda Rainbow Motor School in Japan.

The initiative continued in 2026 with Honda's certified in-house trainers. The September programme represented the year's first in-house pilot session, with participation intentionally limited to nine delivery riders to support focused instruction and individual assessment.

Honda plans to increase participation in future sessions and establish motorcycle safety training as part of an annual programme. The company also intends to strengthen cooperation with Talabat and its third-party logistics partners, extending road safety education to more delivery riders across the UAE.

Through its certified trainers and regional partnerships, Honda aims to develop long-term motorcycle safety programmes, share international best practices and encourage safer, more responsible riding throughout the Middle East.
