A one-of-one concept previewing the future of BMW ALPINA, blending heritage, performance, comfort, sophistication and advanced technology while signalling a bold new chapter for the brand

Lo and behold, the striking Vision BMW ALPINA has been revealed at the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, offering a first glimpse into the future of the BMW ALPINA brand. This one-off concept acts as a bold design study, combining luxury, performance, and advanced technology, while setting the tone for what lies ahead for the Bavarian marque.

Modern ALPINA vision

The Vision BMW ALPINA concept reinterprets the brand’s heritage through a contemporary lens, combining a wide, low stance with a sleek 5,200 mm-long coupé profile that balances aerodynamics, high-speed performance, and genuine four-adult comfort. Power comes from a V8 engine, delivering the unmistakable ALPINA exhaust note, deep and refined at low speeds, yet more expressive as the revs climb.

At the front, the forward-leaning shark nose reimagines BMW’s signature kidney grille as a sculptural element framing the brand emblem. A distinctive six-degree “speed feature line” flows along the body and wraps around the rear, creating a sense of continuous motion. The concept subtly references icons like the Alpina B7 Coupé, known for blending long-distance comfort with high performance.

The “Second Read” design principle introduces Art Deco-inspired graphics beneath the paintwork, visible only from certain angles, while inward-facing metallic surfaces draw inspiration from the BMW 507. Lighting also plays a major role, with warm white illumination inspired by the Bavarian Alps highlighting the slim lamps and kidney surrounds, complemented by subtle crystal elements.

Classic ALPINA design signatures remain intact, including elliptical quad exhausts, machined “ALPINA” lettering, and the iconic multi-spoke alloy wheels, now sized at 22 inches at the front and 23 inches at the rear, continuing a tradition that dates back to 1971.

Heritage-inspired luxury

Step inside the Vision BMW ALPINA interior, and the experience leans heavily into a blend of modern luxury and craftsmanship. The cabin features a spacious, lounge-like layout with trapezoidal design elements, while a six-degree feature line visually separates the darker upper section from the lighter lower half.

Premium materials play a key role, with full-grain leather sourced from Alpine-region suppliers, paired with Deco-inspired stitching. The four-spoke steering wheel stands out as a centrepiece, reinforcing the brand’s identity.

Craftsmanship details include heritage blue and green stitching inspired by classic ALPINA interiors, along with watchmaking-inspired metallic trims finished in satin and polished textures. Crystal elements are used selectively for key controls, maintaining a strong driver-focused philosophy.

One of the more unique touches sits behind the rear console, a glass water bottle alongside bespoke BMW ALPINA crystal glasses, which rise automatically via a self-deploying mechanism. Each glass features intricate detailing, including Deco lines, a sculpted rim profile, and integrated soft lighting within the centre console.

ALPINA comfort philosophy

At the heart of the concept lies the long-standing philosophy introduced by Burkard Bovensiepen that a comfortable driver is ultimately a faster driver. This idea continues to define the BMW ALPINA driving experience.

The Vision BMW ALPINA retains the brand’s signature Comfort+ mode, delivering a softer, more refined ride compared to standard BMW settings. The latest BMW Panoramic iDrive system spans the dashboard, integrating a passenger display and a dedicated ALPINA interface.

As driving modes change, the interface evolves visually with heritage blue and green tones intensifying from Comfort+ to Speed mode. The panoramic display also incorporates Alpine landscape visuals inspired by the region around Buchloe, reinforcing the brand’s roots.

Following the integration of BMW ALPINA into the BMW Group in 2026, the brand now occupies a unique position between BMW and Rolls-Royce. According to Oliver Viellechner, Head of BMW ALPINA, the first production model under this new structure inspired by the BMW 7 Series is expected to arrive next year.
