At the Beijing Auto Show 2026 and the CHERY International Business Summit, Chery International unveiled something that definitely stood out, the CHERY TIGGO V. On paper, it’s being called the world’s first 3-in-1 transformable SUV, but in simple terms, it’s a vehicle that can switch between an SUV, MPV, and pickup truck, depending on what you need from it.The idea is clearly not just about novelty. It’s built around a scenario-based approach, where the same car can handle family duties during the week and more utility-focused work or travel on weekends.
The “V” in TIGGO V isn’t just branding, it actually ties into the whole concept.
“Versatility” comes first, and that’s the obvious one. It’s meant to behave like three vehicles in one, an SUV, a people carrier, and even a light-duty pickup when needed.
Then there’s “Value”, which reflects Chery’s focus on keeping it practical and usable for families rather than turning it into a luxury experiment.
And finally “Victory”, which is more of a lifestyle idea, positioning the car as something that supports everyday milestones, travel, and family use over time.
Visually, the CHERY TIGGO V SUV sticks to the brand’s tiger-inspired design language, but it feels a bit more mature this time. You still get the bold “Tiger Roar” front end, a strong V-shaped grille, and those sharp LED headlights shaped like claws, but the overall stance is more squared-off and functional.
That boxy silhouette actually helps with space inside, and the show car’s dual-tone paint finish with a black roof gives it a more modern, slightly premium look. The five-spoke wheels also add a clean, no-nonsense character rather than something overly flashy.
On the safety side, Chery is clearly trying to position this as a serious family product. Around 76% of the body structure uses high-strength steel and aluminium, which is quite a strong figure for this segment.
It also comes with a full set of driver assistance systems, including Automatic Parking Assist (APA) and Remote Parking Assist (RPA), which are becoming more common but still useful in daily city use.
This is where things get interesting. In MPV mode, the TIGGO V essentially turns into a proper 7-seater family vehicle. The 2,800 mm wheelbase gives it enough space for a usable three-row layout, not just a cramped extra seat in the back.
Second-row movement is also quite flexible with up to 380 mm of slide adjustment, and there are storage spaces everywhere, around 42 compartments in total, which sounds a bit excessive but actually fits the family focus of the car.
Comfort is clearly a priority here too, with air vents for all three rows, dual-zone climate control, and an N95-grade air filtration system included as standard.
Switch it into pickup mode, and the rear section opens up for more utility-focused use. A detachable rear barrier allows the seating area to be converted into a load space, which makes it more flexible than a typical SUV.
The tailgate opens wide, and with the rear seats folded, it can carry larger items like camping gear, luggage, or even appliances. Chery is also offering official accessory options like roof tents, bed liners, and onboard fridges, which makes it clear they’re targeting outdoor lifestyle buyers too.
Under the bonnet, the TIGGO V hybrid SUV uses Chery’s latest sixth-generation Super Hybrid (CSH) system. It’s not about performance headlines here, but more about balance between efficiency and usability.
The plug-in hybrid version is claimed to return around 6L/100 km, while the ICE version sits closer to 7.8L/100 km, which is still commendable for a vehicle of this size and weight.
Ground clearance is rated at 220 mm, with decent off-road capability including a 700 mm wading depth (PHEV) and a 30-degree climbing angle, meaning it’s not just a city-focused SUV.
For now, Chery hasn’t confirmed pricing or exact launch timing. As for the Middle East market, availability is still unconfirmed, though it wouldn’t be surprising to see it considered later given the region’s demand for practical SUVs.
