The refreshed Peugeot 408 arrives in the GCC with a 215 hp turbo petrol engine, new styling, upgraded technology and 15.7 km/l fuel efficiency. Available in Allure and GT trims, with Saudi launch planned.

Peugeot has introduced the refreshed 408 fastback across the GCC, combining distinctive French design with a raised driving position, enhanced technology and improved comfort. Joining the Peugeot 2008, 3008 and 5008, the updated 408 also introduces the brand’s new regional positioning: Serious for engineering, safety and quality, and Wow for design, technology and driving experience.

Exterior design

The updated Peugeot 408 features a redesigned grille and front bumper with three-dimensional detailing and a combination of gloss and matte black finishes. The signature three-claw LED lighting incorporates sequential indicators, while the GT trim adds a full-width LED strip above an illuminated Peugeot shield. At the rear, the 408 becomes the first Peugeot to feature illuminated brand lettering, integrated into a full-width clear-lens strip with gloss-black detailing.

The new Flare Green exterior colour changes from bright yellow in direct sunlight to deep green in the shade. Other available colours include Perla Nera Black, Selenium Grey, Okenite White and Elixir Red.

The Allure trim rides on 18-inch Detroit diamond-cut Shiny Onyx alloy wheels, while the GT features larger 20-inch Monolith diamond-cut Matt Onyx Black alloys.

Interior, technology and practicality

The driver-focused Peugeot i-Cockpit features a compact steering wheel, a customisable 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a driver-oriented 10-inch touchscreen. The instrument display can show navigation, media information and driver-assistance functions, while the GT offers an optional 10-inch 3D Quartz instrument cluster.

Both trims support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The GT adds navigation, voice recognition, wireless smartphone charging and customisable i-Toggles, which provide shortcuts to functions such as climate settings, destinations, contacts and radio stations. Eight ambient lighting colours extend across the dashboard and doors.

The GT also features AGR-certified front seats. Its Alcantara-trimmed driver's seat offers 10-way electric adjustment, memory, massage and heating. An electric sunroof and Clean Cabin air-filtration system are standard on the GT, with the latter designed to remove pollutants, gases and particles while displaying air-quality information on the touchscreen.

A 2,790 mm wheelbase provides generous rear passenger space. The boot offers 536 litres of capacity, expanding to 1,611 litres with the 60:40 split-folding rear seats folded. The load area can accommodate items up to 1.89 metres long.

Engine, performance and fuel efficiency

The GCC-specification Peugeot 408 is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 215 hp and 300 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. Power is delivered through an eight-speed automatic transmission with Sport mode and paddle shifters.

The updated fastback accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 8.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 220 km/h. Peugeot claims combined fuel efficiency of 15.7 km/l, earning an Excellent rating under GSO certification.

Measuring 1,480 mm in height, the Peugeot 408 combines an elevated driving position with a low, sporty profile. Its front and rear tracks measure 1,590 mm and 1,600 mm respectively, while the quoted kerb-to-kerb turning measurement is 11 metres.

The compact steering wheel, which is heated on the GT, incorporates multimedia and driver-assistance controls, including Active Lane Positioning Assist.

Safety and driver assistance

The updated Peugeot 408 comes with a comprehensive range of safety and driver-assistance features. Standard equipment includes a driver-monitoring camera, six airbags and a 360-degree surround-view camera.

Other features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Active Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Keep Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Active Lane Positioning Assist is also referenced among the available driver-assistance functions.

GCC Availability and Launch Date

Manufactured at Peugeot’s Mulhouse plant in France, the updated 408 is being introduced across GCC markets in Allure and GT trims. Saudi Arabia is scheduled to receive the refreshed fastback before the end of 2026.

GCC pricing and market-specific availability have not yet been announced.
