The all-electric BMW iX4 joins the Neue Klasse family with three all-wheel-drive variants, advanced cabin technology, up to 400 kW DC charging and a 612 hp M60 flagship. The first models launch in March 2027

German luxury car manufacturer BMW has unveiled the all-new BMW iX4, an electric SUV coupé and the latest addition to its Neue Klasse portfolio. Featuring sixth-generation eDrive technology, an 800V architecture, advanced digital systems and improved driving dynamics, the iX4 will launch in March 2027 with two variants, followed by the high-performance M60 xDrive.

Exterior: Sporty coupé styling

The BMW iX4 combines a sloping roofline, long wheelbase and short overhangs with BMW's Neue Klasse front-end design, integrating the kidney grille and twin headlights into a single visual element.

The rear features slim horizontal lights, sculpted surfaces and a prominent spoiler with an integrated brake light. The BMW iX4 M60 adds M-specific styling, a distinctive rear spoiler and racing-inspired M Yellow Lights.

The standard M Sport package includes 20-inch alloy wheels and M Sport brakes with blue callipers, while the M60 gets 21-inch wheels. Optional sizes extend to 22 inches. BMW's Iconic Glow package, featuring adaptive headlights and non-dazzling high-beam assistance, is standard on the M60 and optional on other variants. All models receive a panoramic sunroof with climate comfort glazing.

Interior: Advanced digital technology

The minimalist Neue Klasse cabin offers generous passenger space despite the coupé roofline, with seven interior configurations available.

BMW Panoramic iDrive, running Operating System X, combines Panoramic Vision, a 3D Head-Up Display, a 17.9-inch Central Display and a sports steering wheel with integrated controls. My Modes personalises lighting, sound, displays and driving characteristics, while BMW Digital Premium provides additional apps, including M-specific performance information.

Standard features include electrically adjustable front seats with memory, a 40:20:40 split-folding rear backrest and a seven-speaker, 205W audio system. The BMW iX4 M60 adds 10-way electrically adjustable M Sport seats and a 13-speaker, 430W Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos. Both are optional on other variants.

Powertrain: Three electric AWD variants

All three BMW iX4 variants use dual electric motors, one on each axle, powered by BMW's sixth-generation eDrive technology. The range includes the iX4 40 xDrive, iX4 50 xDrive and flagship iX4 M60 xDrive, offering different levels of power, performance and driving range.

The BMW iX4 50 xDrive features a 108.7 kWh usable battery and supports DC charging at up to 400 kW, adding up to 387 km of WLTP-based range in 10 minutes under ideal conditions.

BMW's Gen6 eDrive system incorporates cylindrical battery cells, 800V technology and bidirectional charging, delivering claimed improvements in efficiency, driving range and charging performance over the previous generation.

The flagship BMW iX4 M60 xDrive produces a provisional 612 hp and 875 Nm of torque, with orders opening in January 2027 ahead of its subsequent market introduction.

Chassis and driving dynamics

A flat battery pack lowers the centre of gravity, while near-balanced weight distribution and a long wheelbase contribute to improved agility and stability in the new electric SUV coupé.

BMW's Heart of Joy computer, working with Dynamic Performance Control, manages drivetrain and chassis functions and operates ten times faster than previous systems.

The iX4 M60 receives adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers, variable-ratio sport steering, an electronically controlled M locking rear differential and exclusive M Sport and M Sport Plus driving modes. Adaptive M suspension is optional on the other variants.

Safety and driver assistance

The BMW iX4 offers standard and optional AI-supported driver assistance and parking systems, including BMW Symbiotic Drive technology, which integrates driver inputs with automated assistance.

Motorway Assistant enables hands-free driving at up to 130 km/h and assisted lane changes on approved roads in supported countries, subject to local regulations.

Launch and availability

The BMW iX4 40 xDrive and 50 xDrive will launch in March 2027, followed by the M60 xDrive, which opens for orders in January 2027. Its exact market introduction date has not been specified.

UAE pricing, local specifications and delivery dates have yet to be announced.
