Chery Group’s new NEV brand begins regional rollout as first L8 plug-in hybrid SUVs arrive in the UAE, Kuwait and other Gulf markets

LEPAS has shipped the first batch of its L8 plug-in hybrid SUVs to the Middle East, marking the brand’s initial entry into the region ahead of its official launch. The shipment departed from Guangzhou Nansha Port and includes deliveries to the UAE, Kuwait and other regional markets. It signals the beginning of LEPAS’s global “Year of Delivery” and sets the stage for its Middle East debut, where the company will outline its regional strategy and product roadmap. Backed by Chery Group, LEPAS is entering the Gulf as governments continue to support new-energy vehicles through charging infrastructure expansion, policy incentives and growing consumer demand.

Wider electrified range planned

The five-seat L8 PHEV will be the first LEPAS model to launch in the Middle East, with additional models planned to follow.

These include the L6 EV, L4 EV and L6 PHEV, forming part of the brand’s broader electrified product strategy for global markets.

LEPAS also plans to introduce advanced intelligent driving technologies in the region. Building on its existing automated parking capabilities, the brand aims to roll out an upgraded Super Intelligent Valet Parking (SIVP) system before the end of 2026.

Designed for regional conditions

Built on the Intelligent LEX Platform, the L8 PHEV introduces LEPAS’s “Leopard Aesthetics” design language, combining flowing surfaces with a strong and commanding front-end design.

The SUV features a 2,800 mm wheelbase and is engineered with regional conditions in mind. It includes UV-insulated, heat-reducing glass and an intelligent climate control system designed for extreme temperatures.

According to LEPAS, the system can reduce cabin temperature by up to 32°C within five minutes, enhancing comfort in hot climates across the Middle East.

More than 1,300 km of range

Powering the L8 is the LEPAS Super Hybrid plug-in hybrid system, which delivers a claimed combined driving range of more than 1,300 km.

Fuel consumption is quoted at as low as 2.38 litres per 100 km, positioning the SUV as a practical option for both city driving and long-distance travel.

Full technical specifications, including battery capacity, electric-only range and power output, have not yet been disclosed for regional markets.

Global expansion continues

Operating under the “Drive Your Elegance” brand philosophy, LEPAS is positioning itself as a premium mobility brand focused on design, technology and comfort.

Its strategy is built around three pillars: Leopard Aesthetics, Elegant Technology and Exquisite Space.

Alongside its Middle East expansion, LEPAS is developing a global footprint across Asia, Europe and Latin America, tailoring its products to meet local market requirements.

The company says it will follow Chery Group’s localisation approach of “In somewhere, For somewhere, Be somewhere”, strengthening its presence in each region while delivering its vision of elegant, technology-driven mobility.

Launch timeline and availability

The arrival of the first L8 units marks the start of LEPAS’s Middle East rollout, with a full regional launch event expected soon.

Pricing, specifications, warranty packages and official delivery timelines for the UAE and wider GCC markets are expected to be announced closer to launch.
