Bentley Motors is preparing to introduce the Torcal, bringing one of its most recognisable design signatures into a new era ahead of the model’s official launch. The new model will feature a jewel-like floating diamond grille and digitally rendered displays inspired by hand-cut British crystal, blending heritage craftsmanship with modern technology.
Bentley’s diamond pattern dates back to the 1920s, when wire mesh was used to protect tall radiators from stones and road debris. Over time, the motif evolved into a distinctive design element, appearing on cross-hatched switches and brass controls designed to improve grip.
With the Torcal, Bentley reimagines this legacy through a sculptural floating diamond grille. The design transforms a traditionally functional component into a bold visual centrepiece while maintaining a clear connection to the brand’s heritage.
The diamond motif has previously featured across Bentley models, including the Brooklands coupé, Bentayga headlamp detailing and the interiors of the Continental GT, forming part of the brand’s “embedded diamond” design philosophy.
Inside, Bentley has taken an unconventional approach to digital design. Instead of relying solely on computer-generated graphics, the company collaborated with Cumbria Crystal in England’s Lake District.
Designers used bespoke hand-cut crystal pieces to study how light interacts with their surfaces, translating those effects into digital displays with enhanced depth, texture and movement.
Bentley says the natural variations in handcrafted crystal introduce warmth and a human touch to the otherwise high-tech cabin environment.
The Bentley Torcal is scheduled to make its global debut in London on September 23, 2026, marking a key moment in the brand’s evolving design direction.
While full technical specifications and production details remain undisclosed, the Torcal is expected to highlight Bentley’s future approach to combining traditional craftsmanship with advanced digital innovation.
