Hyundai has revealed the 2027 Tucson in South Korea, introducing a comprehensive redesign for the fifth generation of its popular SUV. The new model adopts Hyundai’s “Art of Steel” design language, replacing much of the outgoing Tucson’s sculpted surfacing with a cleaner, more upright and squared-off appearance. While the cabin shown appears close to production specification, reports indicate the exterior remains in a pre-production phase, although its key design elements are expected to reach the final model.
The new Tucson measures 4,700 mm long, 1,905 mm wide and 1,685 mm tall, with a 2,785 mm wheelbase.
It is 60 mm longer and 40 mm wider than its predecessor, while the wheelbase increases by 30 mm. Hyundai says the larger dimensions improve passenger comfort and luggage capacity.
Second-row headroom increases by 29 mm, while the rear doors now open to 83 degrees, compared with 73 degrees previously, improving access.
Exterior highlights include a flatter profile, pronounced wheelarches and full-width lighting signatures at the front and rear, complemented by vertical, angular lighting elements.
Inside, the Tucson receives a significantly revised cabin centred around a large central touchscreen running Hyundai’s latest Pleos infotainment system.
A slim driver display is positioned high ahead of a new two-spoke steering wheel, while the dashboard adopts a horizontal, floating design. The redesigned centre console also improves storage and usability.
Some versions feature bold orange interior accents, while available colour combinations include Mud Grey/Dove Grey, Black/Sand Beige, Black/Soil Brown and all-black.
South Korean-market models also feature dual wireless smartphone charging, with additional equipment expected to vary by market.
Hyundai has also introduced a more rugged Tucson XRT variant.
It features a rectangular-pattern grille, revised skid-plate elements, forged-carbon-style wheelarch cladding and dedicated alloy wheels.
The rear receives a unique bumper treatment, while the interior gains dedicated seat patterns and protective floor mats. The tailgate also incorporates touch-sensitive LED lighting designed to improve visibility during outdoor use.
Hyundai has not yet announced the new Tucson’s platform, engine range, power outputs or drivetrain configurations.
Reports suggest an updated 1.6-litre hybrid powertrain could feature, while petrol and plug-in hybrid versions may continue in selected markets. However, these have not yet been officially confirmed for the fifth-generation Tucson.
Full mechanical, performance and efficiency specifications are expected closer to launch.
The new Tucson has initially been revealed in South Korea, with international-market specifications, pricing and launch timelines yet to be confirmed.
Hyundai has not announced UAE or wider GCC details, with market-specific information expected nearer to launch.
The model is expected to be introduced globally as a 2027 model-year SUV, with specifications varying by region.
