RTA expands e-bike delivery service in Dubai

Dubai’s RTA has added seven new areas to its e-bike delivery service after a successful trial, supporting safer, cleaner and more efficient first- and last-mile delivery operations.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has expanded its e-bike delivery service to seven new areas following the success of a trial launched last February in four locations. The newly covered areas are Al Twar 1, Al Twar 2, Al Qusais 1, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Dubai Media City, Jumeirah Lakes Towers and Dubai Marina. They join the original trial areas of Al Karama, Al Hamriya, Umm Hurair and Al Mankhool.

Supporting Dubai’s mobility goals

The expansion aligns with Dubai’s Commercial and Logistics Land Transport Strategy 2030 and the First and Last-Mile Strategy, which aim to promote sustainability, reduce costs and improve delivery services in line with global best practices.

It also follows established measures covering delivery operations, licensing requirements, governance, regulatory updates, monitoring and compliance, as part of the approved roadmap for safety and security in delivery operations.

Why these areas were chosen?

RTA selected the new areas based on infrastructure readiness, dedicated tracks, area type, proximity to retail outlets and restaurants, business demand and the number of soft mobility users.

The rollout is being implemented with key private-sector operators under agreements that define operating mechanisms, requirements and procedures to ensure compliance and public safety.

Strong trial results

During the trial phase, RTA recorded around 99 per cent customer satisfaction, while delivery rider satisfaction exceeded 90 per cent. Regulatory solutions were also developed with partners to address operational challenges.

RTA says the wider framework is designed to improve governance and service standards across Dubai’s growing delivery sector, as demand rises and more delivery bikes operate on the emirate’s roads.
