Limited-run 1,080 hp V12 hybrid hypercar becomes fastest Lamborghini ever and earns top global design honour
Automobili Lamborghini has secured one of the world’s most prestigious design accolades, with the exclusive Lamborghini Fenomeno winning the Red Dot: Best of the Best 2026 award in the Product Design category. Limited to just 29 units worldwide, the Lamborghini Fenomeno represents the most advanced expression of the brand’s design and engineering capabilities to date. Developed at Lamborghini’s headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese, the few-off model combines cutting-edge hybrid performance with a bold new design philosophy.
A new direction for Lamborghini design
According to Mitja Borkert, the award validates the future direction of Lamborghini’s Centro Stile design division.
Borkert described the Fenomeno as a “manifesto of style,” highlighting a new ‘hyper elegant’ design approach that expands Lamborghini’s traditional design language while maintaining its signature performance-focused identity.
The model also marks the 20th anniversary of Lamborghini Centro Stile, reinforcing the brand’s continued focus on innovation and design leadership.
Inspired by Lamborghini heritage
The Lamborghini Fenomeno features an aggressive front design with large air intakes and a newly developed daytime running light signature inspired by the iconic Lamborghini logo.
Classic elements such as Y-shaped lighting graphics and sculpted aerodynamic surfaces remain central to the design. A continuous side profile line flows across the body, creating a modern interpretation of Lamborghini’s traditional silhouette while referencing models like the Essenza SCV12.
The launch specification, finished in Giallo Crius, combines exposed carbon-fibre elements with race-inspired aerodynamic components to enhance both aesthetics and performance.
Fastest Lamborghini ever built
At the heart of the Fenomeno is Lamborghini’s most powerful naturally aspirated V12 engine, paired with three electric motors to produce a combined output of 1,080 horsepower.
The advanced hybrid system enables exceptional performance figures:
0 to 100 km/h in 2.4 seconds
0 to 200 km/h in 6.7 seconds
Top speed exceeding 350 km/h
With a weight-to-power ratio of just 1.64 kg per horsepower, the Fenomeno becomes the fastest production Lamborghini ever created.
Red Dot recognition
The Red Dot Design Award is widely regarded as one of the most influential global design competitions, recognising excellence across product design, communication design and concept innovation.
The official award ceremony is scheduled to take place on 7 July 2026 at the Aalto Theater in Essen, Germany.
Continuing Lamborghini’s design legacy
The Fenomeno’s win adds to Lamborghini’s long-standing success at the Red Dot Design Awards. Previous winners include models such as the Revuelto, Huracán Tecnica, Huracán STO, Sián FKP 37, Terzo Millennio concept and the Urus.
With the Fenomeno, Lamborghini continues to push the boundaries of automotive design, combining heritage, innovation and performance into a single, limited-production hypercar.
