Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a new AI-powered system to enhance real-time bus operations in Dubai, marking a major step in the emirate’s push toward intelligent and data-driven public transport. The initiative involves the deployment of advanced smart dashboards at the Bus Operations Control Centre, using artificial intelligence and real-time data analytics to improve efficiency, reliability and sustainability across the Dubai public transport network.
The new system has been developed by RTA’s Public Transport Agency in collaboration with its Artificial Intelligence Centre under Corporate Technology Support Services.
Built on the Dataiku platform, the solution enables transport operators to monitor, predict and respond to operational challenges in real time. The AI transport management Dubai system shifts bus operations from a reactive approach to a proactive and predictive model.
The AI dashboards integrate multiple applications designed to optimise bus network performance, including:
Early departure monitoring and performance tracking
AI-based trip cancellation prediction
Real-time response to metro service disruptions
Optimisation of short-turn bus operations
These tools are fully integrated into daily operations at the control centre, enabling faster decision-making and improved service reliability in smart mobility Dubai systems.
According to RTA, the AI-powered system has already delivered measurable improvements in operational performance.
Early bus departures have been reduced by more than 68%, helping maintain service schedules in line with international benchmarks. The system also enables rapid deployment of buses during metro disruptions, ensuring continuity of service for passengers.
Automated alerts and real-time updates have further improved communication and customer experience across the network.
The initiative also contributes to Dubai’s environmental targets. By reducing unnecessary engine idling and optimising bus parking and movement, the system has helped cut more than 13,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.
This highlights the role of AI in public transport UAE in supporting sustainable urban transport and reducing the environmental impact of large-scale transit systems.
The Bus Operations Control Centre remains central to managing Dubai’s public transport infrastructure, and the introduction of AI-powered dashboards represents a major shift toward intelligent mobility systems.
By integrating enterprise AI into daily operations, RTA is reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global leader in smart city Dubai transport innovation and AI-powered transport solutions.
The initiative aligns with the emirate’s broader vision of delivering efficient, sustainable and technology-driven mobility services for residents and visitors.
