Jaguar reveals Type 01 interior ahead of October debut

Central spine divides cabin into four spaces

The defining feature of the Type 01 interior is a central spine running the full length of the cabin. Jaguar says the structure emphasises the car’s longitudinal proportions while effectively creating four individual occupant spaces.

That focus on length is reinforced by the repeated linear treatment throughout the interior. Corrugated-style lines and ribbed textures draw the eye along the cabin rather than across it, complementing the central spine and helping distinguish the Type 01 from the predominantly horizontal dashboard layouts found in many modern cars.

The driver sits low in the cabin in what Jaguar describes as a cossetting and confidence-inspiring GT driving position.

Chief Interior Designer Thomas Holden says the company deliberately emphasised the car's longitudinal character through the central spine, describing it as an architectural statement that creates four individual spaces.

Travertine-inspired materials

The Type 01's tonal interior palette takes inspiration from travertine stone and the textures of artisan textiles, adding another layer to the prominent ribbed and linear theme.

A brass-inspired finish runs along the central spine and is repeated across the tops of the doors. These elements extend through the cabin and incorporate Jaguar's leaper emblem.

Jaguar has also used what it calls “strikethrough” elements to visually connect the bonnet with the slim dashboard. Combined with the repeated corrugated-style detailing and bold linear graphics, these help create a visual link between the exterior and interior rather than treating the cabin as a completely separate design.

Technology kept out of sight until needed

Rather than allowing large screens to dominate the dashboard, Jaguar says technology has been integrated into the architecture of the cabin and made available when required.

A new infotainment system is incorporated into the slim dashboard, while a digital ClearSight Rear View Display sits centrally at the base of the windscreen. It is positioned at approximately the same height as the exterior door mirrors to help the driver maintain focus.

The interior also incorporates concealed compartments, hidden-until-needed technology and contrasting colour details, allowing the sculptural surfaces and strong linear design to remain the visual focus.

First production Jaguar on new JEA platform

Type 01 will usher in a new generation for Jaguar. The name itself carries significance: “Type” references historic Jaguars, “0” represents zero tailpipe emissions and “1” denotes the first vehicle in the new generation.

Designed, developed and built in the UK, the Type 01 will also become the first production Jaguar based on the dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture, or JEA.

Jaguar says the bespoke EV platform has allowed it to rethink the car's proportions, dynamics, design and occupant experience rather than adapting an architecture originally intended for internal-combustion vehicles.

The complete Jaguar Type 01 will be officially revealed in New York on October 6, 2026.
