Aston Martin has unveiled the Valhalla Spider, its first mid-engined open-cockpit production supercar, featuring a 1,079 PS plug-in hybrid V8 powertrain, removable roof and a top speed of 350 km/h. The supercar is expected to accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, with customer deliveries scheduled for Q3 2027

The new Aston Martin Valhalla Spider is the British luxury marque's fastest open-top production model yet, combining the performance of the Valhalla Coupe with the experience of open-air driving. Developed in collaboration with Aston Martin Performance Technologies (AMPT), the consulting arm of its Formula 1 team, the Spider retains the Coupe's advanced hybrid powertrain, carbon-fibre architecture and track-focused handling while introducing revised aerodynamics and a removable roof. The Aston Martin Valhalla Spider will make its global debut at the 2026 Concours at Wynn Las Vegas, marking the next chapter in the brand's high-performance hybrid supercar programme.

Removable roof and active aerodynamics

The Valhalla Spider features a removable, stowable black fabric roof as standard in most markets, allowing speeds of up to 200 km/h when fitted. An optional carbon-fibre hardtop, standard in the US, permits the electronically limited 350 km/h top speed, also achievable with the roof removed. A rain cover is provided for stationary use.

A detachable wind deflector improves occupant comfort and directs cooling air towards the redesigned engine snorkel, raised by 35 mm over the Coupe's. It folds into three sections for storage in new 15-litre sill compartments.

Revised active aerodynamics and stability control calibrations optimize airflow, downforce, stability and drag with or without the roof. Aston Martin claims over 600 kg of downforce at approximately 241 km/h in Race mode with the roof fitted, while the active rear wing rises 255 mm and doubles as an airbrake.

Aston Martin Valhalla Spider engine and performance

The Aston Martin Valhalla Spider shares its plug-in hybrid powertrain with the Coupe, combining a bespoke 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-plane-crank V8 engine with three electric motors.

The petrol engine produces 828 PS and 868 Nm of torque, while the electric motors contribute an additional 251 PS.

Together, the system delivers 1,079 PS (1,064 bhp / 793 kW) and 1,100 Nm of torque, making the Valhalla Spider one of Aston Martin's most powerful production supercars.

Aston Martin predicts acceleration from 0–100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds, while the electronically limited top speed stands at 350 km/h.

The hot-V V8 engine features upgraded turbochargers, a bespoke intake system, a 7,000 rpm rev limit and a titanium exhaust.

With a specific output of 207 PS per litre, it delivers the highest power output per litre of any Aston Martin combustion engine.

Two oil-cooled electric motors drive the front axle and provide torque vectoring, while a third electric motor is integrated into the bespoke eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The transmission combines electric assistance with the V8 engine to drive the rear wheels through an electronic limited-slip differential.

The 400 V plug-in hybrid system uses a 6.1 kWh battery, with independently controlled front and rear axles. Electric reverse is provided through the front motors.

Official fuel consumption and emissions figures remain subject to homologation.

Formula 1-inspired chassis, suspension and handling

The Valhalla Spider retains the Coupe's carbon-fibre monocoque, developed by Aston Martin Performance Technologies using techniques derived from Formula 1.

The lightweight structure is complemented by aluminium subframes and carbon-fibre body panels, helping maintain the rigidity and performance required for a mid-engined supercar.

The front suspension features double wishbones with pushrod-operated inboard springs and dampers, while the rear uses a multi-link arrangement.

Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers provide adjustable suspension responses, supported by Aston Martin's Integrated Vehicle Dynamics Control system.

The system coordinates the hybrid powertrain, suspension, steering, braking and active aerodynamics across four driving modes: Sport, Sport+, Race and EV.

Standard carbon-ceramic brakes feature 410 mm front discs and 390 mm rear discs.

The Spider rides on 20-inch front and 21-inch rear forged alloy wheels fitted with bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tyres.

Optional equipment includes forged magnesium wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, while dedicated winter tyres are also available.

Exterior, interior and dimensions

The Valhalla Spider retains the Coupe's distinctive carbon-fibre dihedral doors, now featuring frameless glass and revised opening mechanisms designed to improve accessibility and operation.

Inside, new carbon-fibre Touring Seats offer enhanced comfort and easier entry and exit. The Coupe's more supportive seats remain available as a no-cost alternative.

The driver-focused cockpit features Alcantara upholstery, satin-finish carbon-fibre trim, a sports steering wheel and twin 10.25-inch digital displays.

Apple CarPlay connectivity is included, while available options include semi-aniline leather upholstery, a Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system and alternative carbon-fibre interior finishes.

Aston Martin's Q personalisation programme offers an extensive range of bespoke options, including custom exterior paint, racing liveries, exposed or tinted carbon-fibre bodywork, alternative wheel designs, brake calliper colours and personalised interior detailing.

The Valhalla Spider measures 4,728 mm in length, 2,208 mm in width including mirrors and 1,233 mm in height, with a 2,760 mm wheelbase.

It also features 110 mm of ground clearance excluding the air dam, a 65-litre fuel tank and a quoted dry weight of 1,680 kg when equipped with lightweight options.

Launch, pricing and availability

Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark highlighted the Valhalla Coupe's significance as the brand's first production mid-engined supercar and plug-in hybrid, introducing its bespoke flat-plane-crank V8 and eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

He explained that the Valhalla Spider builds on these innovations while retaining the Coupe's design, performance and road-and-track capabilities, with the added freedom of open-top driving.

"High speed or low speed. Rain or shine. Roof on or roof off. Road or track. Valhalla Spider ticks every box," Hallmark said.

Customer deliveries of the Aston Martin Valhalla Spider are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2027.

Official pricing, production numbers and market-specific availability, including for the UAE, have not yet been announced.
