2027 BYD Ti 7 Super Hybrid Premium

BYD’s flagship Super Hybrid SUV combines rugged styling, family practicality and strong efficiency in a segment that’s getting increasingly competitive

Just when you think the Chinese automotive space has peaked, BYD drops something new into the mix. Enter the all-new Ti 7 Super Hybrid, a full-size family SUV that sits right at the top of BYD’s Super Hybrid lineup and aims to blend presence, practicality and electrified performance into one well-rounded package. We were invited to experience the Ti 7 firsthand at its UAE debut and first drive event held at BYD’s newly opened showroom in Dubai Festival City. The turnout was impressive, with media, influencers and curious buyers filling what many will recognise as the former Honda facility.

Exterior design: Boxy, bold and built to stand out

Parked in neat rows outside the showroom, the Ti 7 makes an immediate impression. Available in shades like black, gold and grey, it stands tall and purposeful, easily holding its own among BYD’s expanding lineup.

At over five metres in length, this is a big SUV, and it looks the part. The upright stance, flat surfaces and squared-off proportions give it a rugged, almost utilitarian character. There are clear visual cues inspired by icons like the Land Rover Defender, while the square LED lighting signatures also remind you of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.

Muscular wheel arches, black cladding and 20-inch alloy wheels further enhance its off-road-ready look. A distinctive design element around the rear quarter glass adds some personality without feeling overdone.

If we had to pick a colour, Atlantis Grey stands out. It complements the SUV’s rugged theme without being too loud, unlike some of the brighter options that may not appeal to everyone on a daily basis.

Interior design: Premium feel with real-world practicality

Step inside, and the Ti 7 shifts character. What looks like a tough off-roader on the outside transforms into a comfortable, tech-forward family SUV inside.

The cabin layout is clean and modern, with a strong emphasis on horizontal lines and a sense of space. Dominating the dashboard is a large 15.6-inch infotainment screen, which handles most vehicle functions. Material quality is impressive for the price point, with leather upholstery in the Premium variant and PU trim in the Design version.

Seat comfort is excellent, with supportive cushioning and well-finished detailing. The panoramic glass roof adds to the airy feel, while rear-seat space is generous enough for long journeys.

Practicality is where the Ti 7 really scores. Storage spaces are well thought out, and there’s even a built-in refrigerator in the centre console capable of cooling down to -6°C or warming up to 50°C. Fold the rear seats down, and boot space expands to a claimed 1,880 litres, making it ideal for family road trips.

Performance: Super Hybrid system delivers smooth power

At the heart of the Ti 7 is BYD’s Super Hybrid system, pairing a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and a 26.6 kWh battery pack. Combined output stands at a healthy 480 hp and 630 Nm, which is more than enough for a vehicle of this size.

The system uses BYD’s well-known Blade Battery, based on Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry. It’s designed for durability and safety, with over 5,000 charge cycles and strong thermal stability. Charging supports 6.6 kW AC and up to 54 kW DC, although we didn’t get to test charging speeds during the drive.

Our route covered more than 150 km, stretching from Dubai Festival City to Al Qudra’s Love Lake, then on to Bab Al Shams and back. This gave us a good mix of city roads, highways and open desert stretches.

On the move, the Ti 7 feels refined and easy to drive. The double-wishbone front and five-link rear suspension setup does a great job of absorbing bumps while keeping the body controlled at higher speeds.

Acceleration is smooth and responsive, with seamless transitions between electric and petrol power. It feels quick for a large SUV, especially when overtaking. While we couldn’t verify the claimed 0–100 km/h time of 5.3 seconds, performance is more than adequate for everyday driving.

The claimed 870 km range also sounds promising, and with up to 80 km of pure electric driving, it should comfortably handle daily commutes with minimal fuel use.

First Drive Verdict: A strong all-rounder in a fast-growing segment

The BYD Ti 7 arrives at a time when UAE buyers are increasingly open to electrified vehicles. It ticks a lot of boxes, bold design, a spacious and practical cabin, strong performance and an efficient hybrid system.

What really stands out is how well it balances these elements. It’s comfortable enough for daily use, capable enough for long drives and styled in a way that gives it real road presence.

With prices starting at AED 156,900 for the Design variant and AED 169,900 for the Premium, the Ti 7 positions itself as a value-packed alternative to traditional Japanese and Korean family SUVs.

If you’re in the market for a large, feature-packed SUV with a modern hybrid setup, this one is definitely worth a closer look.
