DENZA, BYD’s premium technology-focused brand, made a major statement at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show with the debut of the all-new DENZA Z hypercar. Positioned as the world’s first intelligent electric supercar, it marks the brand’s entry into the ultra-performance segment.
The DENZA Z convertible is presented in a striking 2+2 convertible hypercar format, hinting strongly at near-production readiness. Shown with a retractable soft-top roof, it reflects a global design effort led by Wolfgang Egger, BYD Global Design Director, blending performance engineering with emotional design language.
The design follows DENZA’s “Pure Emotion” philosophy, combining aerodynamic efficiency with a sculpted carbon-fibre body. Every surface has a purpose, especially the bonnet channels, which are integrated as airflow ducts to increase downforce at high speeds.
Visually, the show car stood out with an aquamarine blue-green paint finish called “Fiorentine” green, large two-tone twin five-spoke alloy wheels, yellow brake calipers, and a layered three-tone interior theme. At the rear, the signature rhombus-shaped LED tail lights are arranged horizontally, giving a gemstone-like visual effect across the back.
Under the skin, the DENZA Z electric supercar is built around a new-generation architecture focused on rigidity, lightweight construction, and performance efficiency. It uses the advanced DiSus-M intelligent magnetorheological body control system, along with a steer-by-wire setup, marking a clear step into next-generation driving technology.
Performance figures are beyond impressive. The hypercar is expected to deliver over 1,000 horsepower, with a claimed 0–100 km/h time of under 2 seconds, placing it firmly in the hypercar category. Power comes from BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery, paired with ultra-fast flash charging technology.
The DENZA Z EV hypercar has already undergone testing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, and is expected to make its global public debut at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed. DENZA has also involved enthusiasts in the process through a naming initiative for its three variants, namely, Standard, Convertible, and Track editions.
Positioned as a premium new-energy performance brand, DENZA is entering a space traditionally dominated by European hypercar manufacturers like Bugatti, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Koenigsegg.
Full specifications and global launch timelines are expected to be announced closer to production rollout. Until then, the DENZA Z hypercar concept stands as a bold preview of the brand’s future in the ultra-high performance segment.
