Citroën Berlingo Van First to debut at IAA 2026

Practical new cabin

Designed around professional users, the Berlingo Van First gets a new dashboard and door panels focused on usability and storage. Its standard Flexiseat lets the passenger seat fold down, adding up to 0.5m³ of cargo space and improving load flexibility.

An optional Modutable turns the area into a mobile workspace for a computer or tablet, meals or documents. Dashbox, Moduconsole, Drivedrawer and Moduwork configurations are also available, including layouts retaining three front seats while adding practical storage and cargo solutions.

Citroën says professional drivers travel alone around 80% of the time, so the cabin layout prioritises efficient working space, storage and load capacity.

Up to 4.4m³ of cargo space

Cargo capacity ranges from 3.3 to 4.4m³, with a payload of up to one tonne, positioning the Berlingo Van First as a practical compact van for urban and light commercial use. Citroën also promises a particularly competitive price point, although pricing has not yet been announced.

Powertrain options include a 136 hp electric version with up to 270 km of claimed range, HDi 100 and HDi 130 diesel engines, and a 110 hp petrol engine. A mild-hybrid variant is scheduled to follow in 2027.

Jumper gets three-way tipper

Citroën will also display the Jumper L3 Double Cab with a three-sided tipper body, aimed at construction, public works and maintenance operators.

It seats up to seven people, while its aluminium bed can unload from three sides and weighs approximately 120kg less than an equivalent steel bed, helping improve payload efficiency. Single- and double-cab configurations are available with petrol or electric powertrains.

The conversion is completed at Citroën's factory CustomFit centre with specialist JPM. It meets Stellantis quality standards, includes integrated type approval and allows customers to receive a fully equipped vehicle while helping optimise delivery times.

Berlingo turns 30

The Berlingo celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026. Launched in 1996 after utility models including the 2CV Fourgonnette, Acadiane and C15, it helped redefine the compact van segment around versatility, modularity and comfort. Citroën describes the Van First as a modern successor to the 2CV Fourgonnette.

Citroën's commercial-vehicle history dates to the Type A in 1919. The late-1930s TUB introduced a forward-mounted cab to optimise interior space, while the Type H, launched in 1947, used front-wheel drive and a low floor to improve practicality.

Today, Citroën's professional range stretches from the Ami Cargo Pack to the Jumper, covering 2.41 to 6.36 metres in length and 0.5 to 17m³ of cargo volume, with combustion and electric powertrains available.

The Berlingo Van First and converted Jumper will be displayed at IAA Transportation 2026, Hall 13, Booth C41, from September 15–20.
