General Motors Africa and Middle East and the Middle East Battery Company are marking 30 years of partnership with ACDelco, GM’s global automotive aftermarket brand. The anniversary also coincides with General Motors’ 100th anniversary in Africa and the Middle East, while cumulative production under the partnership has reached 60 million ACDelco automotive batteries. GM said the collaboration reflects its long-term commitment to Saudi Arabia, confidence in the Kingdom’s industrial capabilities and continued investment in local manufacturing and the automotive aftermarket sector.
Over the past 30 years, GM and ACDelco have expanded the brand’s presence across the Middle East automotive market, with MEBCO playing a key role in local battery manufacturing in Saudi Arabia.
Jorge Plata, President and Managing Director of GM Africa and Middle East, said the partnership has supported automotive manufacturing growth and the development of Saudi Arabia’s automotive industry.
He also said GM remains committed to contributing to the Kingdom’s industrialisation ambitions as it marks its centenary in the region.
Khalid Abdullah Al Zamil, Chairman of the Board of Directors at MEBCO, said producing 60 million batteries reflects the strength of the partnership and the company’s continued focus on quality, reliability and aftermarket performance.
The two companies also highlighted their shared commitment to supporting vehicle reliability and driver safety through trusted aftermarket products and services.
Looking ahead, GM and MEBCO said they are exploring new opportunities to improve the customer ownership experience and expand their regional footprint across the Middle East automotive sector.
Their plans include strategic network optimisation and expansion into new markets, alongside the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies and aftermarket innovations.
The companies said these efforts are intended to keep their production processes and aftermarket solutions aligned with global automotive industry trends, including electrification and evolving mobility needs.
No specific new markets, technologies, facilities or launch timelines were announced.
