MINI and Austrian design studio Vagabund have partnered for a creative collaboration that brings together automotive design and sound culture. The result is two unique, one-off MINI Countryman SUVs, designed as bold expressions of adventure, community, and lifestyle.

MINI x Vagabund: The Duo

The MINI Countryman S ALL4 serves as the foundation for both builds, allowing Vagabund to reinterpret the SUV’s versatility through its own design philosophy and community-driven approach.

With integrated sound systems, graphic detailing, and a distinct visual identity, both vehicles transform into mobile sound stages. Finished in Melting Silver, one features sand and white accents for a lighter, more playful look, while the Midnight Black MINI Countryman takes a more technical, monochrome approach, offering a striking contrast when viewed together.

Bodywork and Customisations

Both custom MINI Countryman SUVs feature extensive exterior modifications. Reworked wheel arches give them a wider stance, while redesigned front and rear bumpers integrate smoothly with the updated bodywork and grille. Along the side sills, bold Vagabund lettering is incorporated as a three-dimensional design element.

A raised ride height enhances the off-road character, paired with 20-inch wheels featuring closed-off, 3D-printed covers that create a strong, speaker-inspired visual effect.

The roof rack, built from laser-cut aluminium with integrated mesh, echoes the design of audio equipment, visually connecting the roof, side profile, and overall theme of the vehicles.

The Vehicles as a Sound System

Music sits at the core of the concept. The rear side windows have been removed and replaced with a specially developed high-performance sound system, designed for outdoor projection and community use.

Custom loudspeaker housings made from cast polymer granite help deliver clearer sound, while tweeters and mid-range speakers are integrated directly into the bodywork. Additional rear subwoofers provide deeper bass when the tailgate is open, turning each MINI Countryman show car into a standalone audio system.

Together, the two vehicles can function as a mobile stage, creating a shared and immersive sound experience.

On the opposite side, a standout feature is the integration of an iconic Walkman, housed within a custom 3D-printed enclosure, blending analogue nostalgia with modern design in a playful way.

Public Appearance

MINI showcased one of the two MINI x Vagabund Countryman models for the first time at Auto China 2026 in Beijing, 13 other vehicles. Following its debut, both vehicles are expected to appear across multiple platforms and events, bringing this unique fusion of SUV design, music culture, and lifestyle expression to a wider audience.
