If you like slope-back SUVs, Infiniti, the Japanese luxury automaker, has just introduced the all-new 2027 Infiniti QX65 in the Middle East, adding another bold fastback design to the growing coupé SUV segment. It blends striking styling, a thoughtfully crafted interior, practical cargo space, intuitive connectivity features, and performance that livens up everyday driving.
The Infiniti QX65, the first of its name, draws inspiration from the iconic FX while building on the QX60, and it feels like a natural next step for the brand. Its fastback design, with a sweeping roofline, wide stance, and muscular fenders, gives it oodles of style and strong road presence. The profile flows into an integrated rear spoiler, and rides on 20-inch and 21-inch alloys depending on the variant.
Up front, the three-dimensional grille subtly inspired by bamboo forests adds depth and character, complemented by Infiniti’s signature lighting and a contrasting black roof. The new Sunfire Red paint, with its multi-layer finish and fine detailing, gives the SUV a richer look that changes slightly depending on the light.
At the rear, the full-width LED tail lamps with an interesting morse-code like details, keep things clean and modern, while small touches like the hidden rear wiper and welcome lighting sequence show that attention has gone into both design and everyday usability.
The 2027 Infiniti QX65 interior feels well put together, with a clean two-tone design, quilted leather seats, and soft materials that give it a refined, premium touch without feeling excessive. The second row adds to the usability. One can slide, recline, or fold the seats, making it easy to adjust the space depending on whether you’re carrying passengers or extra luggage.
For a coupé-style SUV, practicality is still a strong point. The Infiniti QX65 offers 1,014 litres of boot space, expanding to 1,917 litres with the rear seats folded, which makes it more usable than its design might suggest. Subtle details like 64-colour ambient lighting with seasonal themes also add a personalised feel to the cabin, especially during night drives.
The 2027 Infiniti QX65 keeps its tech setup fairly clean and user-friendly, with dual 12.3-inch displays, one for the digital driver cluster and the other for infotainment. In markets like the UAE, it also comes with Google built-in, offering Google Maps, Assistant, and app support directly from the system, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for added flexibility.
It’s well-equipped for everyday usability too, with USB-C ports for both rows and a Qi2 wireless charging pad that includes cooling support, handy in hot climates. Audio is handled by a Klipsch system, with a 16-speaker setup in lower trims and a more powerful 20-speaker Reference Premiere system in higher variants. The top model also adds Individual Audio, letting the driver and front passenger listen to different sound sources independently, which is a surprisingly useful premium touch.
The 2027 Infiniti QX65 is powered by a 268hp, 387Nm VC-Turbo engine, the world’s first production variable compression engine that previously earned recognition in Ward’s 10 Best Engines (2018). It’s tuned to deliver a strong balance of responsive acceleration and smooth torque delivery, making it suitable for both city driving and highway cruising. The engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, giving the driver a more engaging feel when needed.
To improve everyday comfort, the QX65 also features Active Noise Cancellation and Active Sound Enhancement, helping reduce unwanted cabin noise while subtly amplifying a sportier engine note when you push it. Standard Intelligent All-Wheel Drive adds stability across different road conditions, while the combination of larger wheels and low-profile tyres is expected to deliver impressive grip, steering response, and overall driving confidence.
The 2027 Infiniti QX65 comes well-equipped with a strong set of standard safety and driver-assistance features, including Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Warning with Intervention, Lane Departure Prevention, High Beam Assist, rear parking sensors, and ProPILOT Assist for more relaxed highway driving. These systems are designed to make everyday driving easier and more confident, especially in busy urban conditions like the UAE.
Higher variants add more advanced tech, such as a Smart Rear View Mirror with a live camera feed and a 10.8-inch head-up display that projects key driving information onto the windshield. The SPORT and AUTOGRAPH trims go further with a 3D Around View Monitor, Front Wide View for better visibility at junctions, and an Invisible Hood View, which uses exterior cameras to show what’s directly beneath the front of the vehicle, especially useful in tight parking situations.
The QX65 sits in a slightly unusual spot. On one hand, it lines up against bigger, more premium options like the BMW X6, Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé, and Audi Q8, in terms of size.
But in terms of price, it’s closer to models like the BMW X4, Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé, and Audi Q5 Sportback.
That kind of positioning could actually work in its favour, especially for buyers who want something that provides substantial space, feels premium but isn’t quite as expensive as the top-tier options.
